Christine's Twisted Every Way Outfit

I love this dress, and I finally convinced myself to make it!

I'm pretty determined. I mean, I think this dress is pretty easy, which means it will be super hard, of course... Well, I've done some research. Will either use very fine, thin linen for the blouse or silk organza. For the skirt, some kind of silk, and can't forget the grey petticoat underneath. I'm too excited! Of course, this is going to run me up the wall with the cost!

Well, here are my choice of patterns so far!

TV 101 - Petticoat with Wire Bustle
TV 201 - 1870s Underskirt
TV 365 - 1883 August Overskirt

From what I have observed, this dress obviously has a grey pleated underskirt. On top of that is the overskirt, and then the bustle in the back, which I believe also has a draped apron in the front. If you watch the movie carefully, you notice her skirt moves but not that one section in front of her knees where the apron would end. The blouse is going to be difficult to find a nice pattern for, so I may just end up drafting the bodice by myself.

I figured that I'm just going to order about 15 yards of white silk dupioni to dye for the skirt. Six yards for the pleated underskirt (dyed grey), 7 yards for the overskirt and bustle (to be dyed black). This is going to cost me a pretty penny...

I still haven't verified the fabric on the bodice.
