Hello!

Thank you, I appreciate the comments very much. It keeps me motivated and willing to work on the site.

The AIAoY costume seems to be very popular! My first advice would to go check out the Phantom Phasions Forum I know that there are plenty of forums out there were you can ask, but it's the only forum I know of where you can spam the board with as many questions about costumes as you want. There are a lot of people there who know these costumes inside out and would be willing to help. It's worth a look, even if you don't want to post.

I'm sorry about not having more tips. I do have a page set up, but school and time budgetting aren't working with me lately. I promise I will have some new updates on that page soon as possible.

Let's see, the All I Ask of You costume is actually probabably the simplest (if you can call a costume simple!) of all the Christine outfits. I'm not really sure what kind of advice you are looking for, you'll have to be more specific, but I'll answer what I know.

The fabric: the cloak is obviously of red velvet, with an a floral embossed lining on the inside of the hood (and probably the cloak also). With regards to patterns, Simplicity 5794 is a good starting point for the cape. I just forwarn you the instructions can be confusing, even for people who've been sewing for a while. As for the skirt, I believe the pattern to be a circle skirt because of how full it is.

Here are instructions on how to make a circle skirt

If you don't want to draft your own, any simple full skirt pattern will do well. It takes a bit of experimenting to find the right look.

Note on the skirt: there is more than one layer, which means if it is roughly 5 yards per layer of the skirt, and there are probably five layers, you're looking at 25 yards of fabric! My advice if your on a budget is to just make one layer out of a material perhaps of sateen, and line it or wear a muslin petticoat or a pink petticoat for fullness, beneath. Not only will it save money, but also all the time having to cut and sew all those layers! The material they use (I believe it is silk chiffon) is also very expensive, too. Can run up to 10$ per yard and beyond.

As for the corset (stays, as they are called in Elizabethan time). Here's a pattern I found.

Note, I have never used this pattern, so I don't really know how well the pattern goes together.

I hope this helps!! Feel free to ask any other questions!

Eternally,

Phantomess
